Turner

Lutheran High of St. Charles County senior Meagan Turner was named a Distinguished Finalist by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program, the United States’ largest youth recognition program based solely on volunteer service.

Criteria include personal initiative, effort, impact and personal growth. Just eight students in Missouri received the award.

Turner, 17, of Foristell, is an active volunteer who commits 15-20 hours a week to serving her school and community; over the past two summers, she has provided 14 nonprofit organizations with pro bono social media and graphic design services. Turner shadowed professional marketers, created a portfolio to advertise her social media services and helped local agencies increase their exposure.

Three other St. Louis-area students also were recognized for their volunteer efforts. Parkway West High senior Hyun Bang and Visitation Academy senior Mary Hilton were named Distinguished Finalists along with Turner. Clayton High senior Sophie Bernstein was named the State Honoree.
