Utility tax rebate filing begins April 2 for certain residents in O’Fallon


O’Fallon residents age 65 or older or legally-disabled, may qualify for the city’s utility tax rebate on telephone, cell phone, gas and electric taxes paid to the city in 2017.

To qualify, annual adjusted gross income cannot be more than $41,750 for a single head-of-household or $47,700 for a married [two-person] household. Social Security income is not counted.

For those who qualify, city staff and volunteers will help residents file for the rebates in person at O’Fallon’s Municipal Centre, 100 N. Main St. in O’Fallon. Filing begins Monday, April 2, and continues through Thursday, May 31. Hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on weekdays.

To file, residents must have a photo ID showing their O’Fallon address, a copy of their 2017 tax return and copies of residents 2017 gas, electric and phone bills, including your phone bill. If residents have been determined disabled by the Social Security Administration, they also need legal proof of disability.
