Even through Christmas is a few days away, city elections this spring are starting to come into focus.
Candidates began on Dec. 12 filing for city elective offices that up for election on April 3, 2018 throughout St. Charles County. Most of those positions are on city boards of aldermen. And the period that candidates can file for city office ends at 5 p.m. on Jan. 16.
Through activity has hardly been brisk, incumbents on aldermanic seats in several wards in Lake Saint Louis, Cottleville and Dardenne Prairie have filed for office as of Dec. 15.
In Lake Saint Louis, Aldermen Karen Vennard [Ward 2] and Jason Law [Ward 3] have filed for two-year terms. Vennard has served as an alderman since 2010 and Law since 2014. Aldermen Gary Torlina [Ward 3] is the other incumbent whose seat is up for reelection.
In Cottleville, incumbents Marie Mannino [Ward 1] and Don Buchheit [Ward 2] have refiled their candidacy for two-year terms.
Dardenne Prairie board incumbents Dave Wandling [Ward 1] and Dan Koch [Ward 3] have refiled. Justin Ungerboeck has filed in Ward 2. The incumbent in Ward 2 is Doug Santo
