New-home sales at all-time high
Sales of new single-family homes are at the highest level since October 2007 amid robust demand all across the United States, according to the Commerce Department. Economists had forecasted a 6-percent drop in new-home sales but, unexpectedly, home sales soared in October.
Here’s what’s new locally in new homes:
Just in time for the holidays and with construction now underway on six sold homes at MacArthur Park, Griffey Homes recently hosted the grand opening of its Denali model, priced from $373,500. The 1.5-story has four bedrooms and 3.5 baths, plus a second-floor bonus room on more than 3,100 square feet.
MacArthur Park is a cul-de-sac of just 11 homesites, many backing to trees and conveniently located on Central School Road just off Mid Rivers Mall Drive. Home sizes range from 2,293 to 3,334 square feet. Prices start from the $340,000s.
Griffey Homes sales manager Kim Valerio says, “We have been popular with young families who want to be in the Francis Howell School District and close to Cottleville.”
MacArthur Park also is the sales center for Griffey’s custom homes division. “We will build their plan or our plan,” says Valerio. “We make the whole process very simple.”
“We like to say, if you can dream it, we can build it,” says Valerio, who also is an experienced interior designer.
The extensive list of standard features in every Griffey home includes a three-car garage per plan, 9-foot main-floor ceilings, 42-inch kitchen cabinets, granite or Silestone countertops and a fully sodded yard.
