O’Fallon is the only Missouri community to be included on a new listing, the Top 100 Best Cities to Raise Kids in the U.S. 2017. Compiled by the National Council for Home Safety and Security [www.alarms.org], O’Fallon ranked 74th out of 526 cities considered by the organization.
To access community information, the National Council for Home Safety and Security turned to the U.S. Census Bureau’s data posted on its searchable U.S. Census Bureau American Fact Finder site for statistics on the percentage of 18- to 24-year-olds who did not graduate from high school, median household income, the number of violent crimes relative to O’Fallon’s population size and the number of insured children 6-17.
“In addition to being the only city in Missouri on the list, O’Fallon joins many communities in California, Washington and Massachusetts in making the grade as a Best Cities to Raise Kids,” O’Fallon’s Mayor Bill Hennessy said. “We have great schools, jobs, recreational programs and parks and so much more, and we are proud to be continually recognized across the nation as a family-centered, economically and educationally vibrant community.”
