Francis Howell School District recently launched a Mobile Market in an effort to help its families in need. The market was set up as part of a partnership with Sodexo USA and the St. Louis Area Foodbank. One day a month from 2-3:30 p.m., it provides donated food for those who need it.
“It was an opportunity for the district to provide a service that our community needs,” Matt Deichmann, FHSD chief communications and community relations officer, said. “People think of St. Charles County as an affluent area, but there are still residents that need help.”
The first Mobile Market served 27 families and the program continues to expand. The next mobile market will be Nov. 29.
Distribution takes place at the FHSD Burbes Building, 4606 Central School Road in St. Charles. Volunteers are needed each month to bag food and distribute it to families. To volunteer, sign up on a Google Sheet, which is posted on FHSD’s Facebook page. To sign up to receive dontations from the Mobile Market, contact Greg Vest at (636) 851-5864.
