Parents and residents can learn more about the heroin and opioid prescription crisis happening in St. Charles County at a ‘Heroin and Opioid Prescription Community Awareness Night’ from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Nov. 9. The night is hosted by the Francis Howell School District and will be held in the gym of Hollenbeck Middle School in St. Charles.
The free, community event is presented by a panel of professionals to help educate and inform community members on how to be proactive in the growing epidemic of heroin and substance abuse. The panel will include presentations from: Tim Lohmar, St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney; Lisa Cassidy and Kyle Gaines, St. Charles County Ambulance District; Scott Collier, Drug Enforcement Agency; and Beth Sailors, Preferred Family Health.
Child care provided by Hollenbeck Leadership Students will be available on-site. A free prescription drug collection also will be available at the event to allow residents to dispose of expired or unused medications.
