City of St. Peters ranks high in ‘Top 100 Places to Live’

Calling it “an ideal place to start a family,” Money Magazine has ranked the city of St. Peters as No. 15 in its Top 100 Best Places to Live in America for 2017.

The recognition gives St. Peters its highest rank in its fourth time on the list and makes it Money Magazine’s highest-rated community from Missouri for 2017.

The publication previously ranked St. Peters among its Top 100 Best Places to Live in 2008, 2010 and 2012.

Earlier this year, Wallethub ranked St. Peters the nation’s 28th best small city to start a business. In 2017, more than 2 million square feet of commercial space is slated to open in the city, including projects at Premier 370 Business Park and the 270,000-square-foot Shoppes of Mid Rivers retail development at Interstate 70 and Mid Rivers Mall Drive.

According to Money Magazine, its search for the Top 100 Places to Live in America considered 2,400 places with populations between 10,000 and 100,000 that met thresholds for crime risk, median household income and ethnic diversity. The magazine then narrowed the list by collecting 170,000 different data points concerning each place’s economic health, cost of living, public education, crime, ease of living and amenities. Finally, reporters for the publication “researched each spot, interviewing residents, checking out neighborhoods and searching for the kinds of tangible factors that aren’t revealed by statistics.”

O’Fallon ranked 42nd on the 2017 list.
