Bus accident along Hwy. K in O’Fallon leaves students with minor injuries

At least five elementary school students, a bus driver, and the driver of the vehicle were injured Monday morning in an accident involving a car and a school bus in O’Fallon.

The crash occurred between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Hwy. K at Waterford Crossing.  Kyle Gaines, a spokesperson for the St. Charles County Ambulance District, ambulances transported four students and one adult from the scene.

Laura Wagner, a spokesperson for the Fort Zumwalt School District, said at least one student was picked by a parent.  Gaines said other parents may have picked up students. The injuries were characterized as minor, both Wagner and Gaines said.

Wagner said the bus driver was also transported by ambulance as a precaution and the driver of the car was also injured, she added. Gaines said six ambulances responded to the scene.
