Each year, Progress 64 West – a partnership of citizens and local leaders who work to create and maintain sustainable communities and a high-quality standard of life in St. Louis and St. Charles counties – offers the Louis S. Sachs Scholarship, which annually awards up to $7,500 in economic aid to area high school seniors.
Two local students will receive the scholarship money – which is divided into one $5,000, 2-year college scholarship and one $2,500, 1-year college scholarship. If the scholarship recipients choose to attend Lindenwood, the university will match the award.
Scholarship sponsors include American Direct Marketing Resources LLC; Doster Ullom & Boyle, LLC; and Stinson Leonard Street LLP.
Graduating seniors in the Parkway, Rockwood, Francis Howell, Fort Zumwalt and Wentzville school district areas – as well as private schools and home schools within these five areas – may apply.
In honor of the late Louis S. Sachs, a visionary entrepreneur, Progress 64 West looks for applicants who have entrepreneurial dreams, and awards scholarships based on the applicant’s submission of an executive summary of a business plan.
The executive summary must include: a description of the business concept; market analysis; business operations, sales and marketing strategies, tactics and techniques; and sources and uses of funds necessary to start and operate the business.
The executive summary and its content are the property of the applicant and will not be used by Progress 64 West for any purpose other than awarding the scholarship.
Applicants must be able to attend a luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
The application deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 31. For more information and application stipulations, visit progress64west.org.
