SAR members named to state office

Two Sons of the American Revolution [SAR] were named to state offices at the recent SAR convention. Dennis Hahn, of the Fernando de Leyba [St. Charles County] SAR Chapter, was elected to serve as president and Doug Neff was elected to serve as surgeon.

Hahn has been a member of SAR since 1997 and has served the local chapter as chaplain and president. Neff has been a member of SAR since 2003 and has served the local chapter as genealogist. Neff also is an active member of the local chapter and State Society Color Guard.

Hahn’s American Revolution Patriot, Samuel Wells, is buried in O’Fallon. Neff’s American Revolution Patriot, James Bryan, is buried in the Jonathan Bryan Burying Ground in Defiance.  Bryan’s father, Morgan Bryan, was the grandfather of Daniel Boone’s wife, Rebecca Ann Bryan Boone.

The Fernando de Leyba SAR Chapter meets at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month, except July and August, at Culpepper’s in St. Charles. Men interested is joining the SAR, a lineage society, are welcome to attend the meetings. Spouses also are invited to attend.
