At its July 31 meeting, the St. Charles County Council tabled a bill amending how it regulates rural recreational activities allowed as conditional uses in areas zoned agricultural. These can include campgrounds, bed-and-breakfast establishments, airfields, feed lots and meeting spaces, along with locations for conferences, weddings and wedding receptions.
The new bill states that weddings, wedding receptions, meetings, conferences and public assemblies have to be held indoors on sites not less than 20 acres. But Councilman Joe Brazil [District 2], who sponsored the bill, said it may require input from staff and the public.
He said there has to be a balance struck between wineries, rural businesses and residents who moved to the area for the peace and quiet.
