Free and reduced-price meals for school children are essential to families in need. As the 2017-18 school year approaches, Francis Howell and Fort Zumwalt are making information available about eligibility requirements.
Francis Howell revised its policy for free and reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program. Eligibility is based on income and the size of a family. Details are available here.
Fort Zumwalt’s policies for free and reduced-price meals are available here.
In both districts, applications for free and reduced-price meals are available in every school.
Applications are confidential and only used to determine eligibility; they can be submitted any time during the academic year. A complete application is required, which includes household income from all sources or food stamp/temporary assistance case number; names of all household members; and the signature and last four digits of Social Security number, or indication of no Social Security number, of the adult household member signing the application. School officials may verify current income at any time during the school year.
