Local actors, dancers and singers, Young People’s Theatre wants to showcase your talents in two upcoming productions.
Open auditions for “You Ain’t Nothin’ but a Werewolf” are at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19 at St. Charles Community College in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building, 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville.
Open auditions for ‘The Nutcracker” are at noon on Sunday, Aug. 20 in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building.
Auditions are open for youth ages 8 to 18. To be cast, students must either have taken Introductory Theatre Workshop I or concurrently enroll in the class while being in the production. Students must be accompanied by an adult.
“The Nutcracker” auditions will involve readings from the script, a dance combination [which will be taught] and basic movement. Those who audition should bring dance shoes – jazz, ballet, tap or all – and wear clothes to dance comfortably.
“Werewolf” auditions will include a song that will be taught, a short dance combination and a brief reading of the script. Students should wear comfortable clothes and shoes – no flip flops.
There is no cost to audition, but there is a $184 fee for students cast in “Werewolf” and a $210 fee for those cast in “The Nutcracker.”
For 30 seasons, Young People’s Theatre has been dedicated to providing training and experience in the theater and performing arts to children and their families.
“You Ain’t Nothin’ but a Werewolf” performs Friday, Oct. 13 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 14 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 15 at 2:00 p.m.
“The Nutcracker” takes the stage on Friday, Dec. 15 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 16 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2:00 p.m.
