When technology is essential to the learning experience for students; it helps to have support from the parent-teacher organization to meet a need.
The PTO at Warren Elementary in Francis Howell spent a year to raise nearly $35,000 for Google Chromebook carts. Google Chromebooks are needed for state-mandated online tests.
“We have had such an overwhelming response by parents, teachers and students acknowledging their gratefulness for this purchase,” said PTO president Katie Bange. “One class even wrote a thank you letter signed by all of the students.”
The principals originally asked for 60 devices and two carts but the PTO approved the purchase of four carts and 120 Chromebooks.
“We felt it was important to increase the technology students at Warren have access to on a day-to-day basis, to prepare them to be 21st century learners,” Bange said.
