According to the Francis Howell School District, 53 St. Charles County residents died of prescription opioid or heroin overdoses in 2015. Last year, the district said the St. Charles County Ambulance District responded to more than 400 overdose calls. District officials claim prescription opioid and heroin addictions claim younger and younger victims each year.
To make more people aware of the issues, the district plans a Heroin and Opioid Prescription Community Awareness Night in the Francis Howell High Auditorium, 7001 Hwy. 94 South, from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11.
The evening will feature presentations from:
- Tim Lohmar, St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney
- Tim McDermott and Scott Collier, Drug Enforcement Agency [DEA]
- Lisa Cassidy and Kyle Gaines, St. Charles County Ambulance District
- Beth Sailers and Jude Hassan, Preferred Family Health
Child care will be provided courtesy of the students in Francis Howell High’s Child Development Class.
