Eric Johnson believes a fellow guitarist targeted him.
Johnson, who lives in unincorporated St. Charles County, near Hwy. 94 and Jungermann Road, returned home Saturday [Dec. 10] night to find some items missing. He and his girlfriend went downstairs to discover a back door had been kicked in.
Among the items taken are Johnson’s new Gibson Les Paul electric guitar, worth $3,500, a prototype Charvel electric guitar worth almost $4,000, prescription medications for the couple’s dogs, a smartphone, smartwatch and multiple bottles of wine.
Johnson performed with his band, Platinum Rock Legends, at the Hollywood Casino earlier that evening. He said he and girlfriend Linda Gaal, who is in the band, The Ultraviolets, posted to social media about attending the Hollywood Casino show and he regularly talks about music gear and local concerts on a St. Charles morning radio show.
Johnson speculates that the thief or thieves may have seen the posts, listened to the show or followed the bands to know when he and Gaal would be away from home. Further, he believes whoever did this is a fellow guitarist as the robber ignored other high-dollar instruments in the home.
As of Dec. 16, St. Charles County Police said there is still no suspect information and the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective J. Meyer at (636) 949-3020, ext. 2551.
