O’Fallon Veterans Day Ceremony

With a bright blue sky, full sunshine and a light breeze, O’Fallon honored and remembered its soldiers, sailors and other military members on Veterans Day at Veterans Memorial Walk, just south of Interstate 70. Mayor Bill Hennessy welcomed everyone in attendance, Jim Mueller served as Master of Ceremonies and Rev. Mitch Doyen of Assumption Parish delivered the invocation and benediction. Homeschool Students of Troy and Lake St. Louis recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Troy Classical Conversations Homeschool student Crowner Beck performed our national anthem and “God Bless America” on acoustic guitar. Fort Zumwalt West High School student Katherine A. Freund delivered her essay, “My Responsibility to America.” Rich Chrismer, United States Air Force and Vietnam Veteran, served as keynote speaker. VFW Post 5077 presented and retired the colors, its commander and president laid a ceremonial wreath and American Legion Post 388 delivered the rifle salute and performed “Taps.” Please view the event photo gallery below.
