Central County Trivia Night collects $20,000 for meals delivered to homebound senior citizens

Over the past six years, Central County Fire & Rescue [CCFR] firefighters and St. Peters elected officials have hosted a trivia night. To date, it has raised more than $100,000 to provide meals to local homebound senior citizens. This year’s event, on Oct. 14, raised a record-breaking $20,616.43.

A check recognizing the donation was presented at a special ceremony at the St. Peters Senior Center on Nov. 3. Mayor Len Pagano, members of the Board of Aldermen, CCFR officials and firefighters, Mid-East Area Agency on Aging (MEAAA) leadership and some local senior citizens who receive the meals attended.

CCFR’s Community Outreach volunteers are committed to the ongoing success of MEAAA’s home-delivered meals program. In addition to hosting the trivia night, CCFR off-duty firefighters volunteer their time to deliver a smile, and for many local senior citizens, the only hot, healthy meal they receive each day. St. Charles County is the only county in the MEAAA service area that still offers daily hot meals.
