The city of O’Fallon wants to find creative ideas from people interested in its historic Krekel House, located at 103 North Main St., so it is seeking sealed proposals for purchasing and using the white, two-story building, which dates to the 1870s and is a landmark.
The deadline to submit sealed proposals is 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016. Request for Proposal [RFP] forms are available on the city’s website, www.ofallon.mo.us. Besides instructing interested parties how to submit, the RFP also contains building details – history, size and other information, plus terms, conditions and limitations on the property’s use.
The city purchased the property in 2007 to preserve the home of the city’s founding father, Nicholas Krekel, who was also the town’s first resident in 1856. Krekel served as the postmaster, railroad agent and business owner, too. The site is now zoned R-3, garden apartment and condominium, but the city would consider rezoning the site for a suitable commercial use.
All inquiries and questions concerning the Krekel House RFP should be directed to: Julie Moellering, Purchasing Agent, City of O’Fallon, 100 North Main St., O’Fallon, MO 63366 or by calling (636) 379-5527 or emailing email@example.com.
