Supporters of the Megan Meier Foundation recently marked the completion of its newly expanded resource center with a ribbon-cutting. Originally founded in 2007 with the mission of raising awareness to prevent bullying, cyberbullying and suicide, the Megan Meier Foundation is located at 515 Jefferson St. in St. Charles and now provides an art room, music therapy, group discussions and counseling services.

Firehouse Subs recently opened a new location at 4508 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville. Locally owned by franchisees Brian, Jaime and and Jon Collins, Firehouse Subs is open Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Home Builders Charitable Foundation [HBCF], the charitable arm of the Home Builders Association of Greater St. Louis, recently presented donations to two St. Charles County organizations. The HBCF donated $15,000 to Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Services for its Repairing Homes Restoring Hope program, which serves low-income families and individuals in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. A check for $12,500 also was presented to Habitat for Humanity of St. Charles County; the funds will be used to help fund two new construction builds in St. Charles.

The Expert Realty Company recently presented a $1000 donation to Pedal The Cause, which provides funds for cancer research through its annual cycling challenge. Expert Realty clients Jeff and Sara Hinrichs nominated the nonprofit to receive the donation. The Lake Saint Louis-based realtor has pledged to donate 10 percent of its monthly commission to a charity nominated by its clients.

Engineering professional Amanda Brauer recently joined St. Charles County’s administrative staff as roads and traffic manager. Brauer replaces John Greifzu, who now serves as the county’s assistant director of administration. She will manage road projects and funding as well as future infrastructure improvements, and has more than 12 years of transportation engineering experience working for private engineering firms on a diverse range of projects.

 

AWARDS AND HONORS

Wentzville-based Synergy Group recently received two of the Society for Marketing Professional Services [SMPS] St. Louis’ top marketing honors, the Award of Excellence, for client website and rebranding projects.  The SMPS awards are presented every two years, recognizing outstanding achievement in marketing communications by professional service firms in the design and building industry.

The Greater St. Charles Chamber of Commerce holds a monthly Coffee & Networking meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 27, from 7:30 – 9 a.m. at Green Clean Commercial, 1520 South Fifth St., Suite 201 in St. Charles. The Missouri Job Center of St. Charles County continues its Fall 2016 session of free “Intro to Coding” workshops in partnership with St. Charles Community College. The next sessions will be held from 1-3 p.m on Oct. 3, Nov. 7 and Dec. 5. All classes are held at the Missouri Job Center, 212 Turner Blvd. in St. Peters, and are facilitated by staff from the college’s computer science department.
