Drivers can expect varying lane closures along Mexico Road between West Sunny Hill Boulevard and Devondale Place beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 13. The lane closures are needed to relocate an existing water main in order to allow construction of the ongoing Mexico Road Multi-Use Path Bridge Project.
The center lane of Mexico Road and portions of one eastbound or westbound lane will be closed at times. Lane closures are expected through Sept. 22, although the timeline is weather-dependent. Lanes will be opened at the end of the day during this work whenever possible.
The Mexico Road Multi-Use Path Bridge Project will build a new 10-foot wide pedestrian and bike path bridge over Dardenne Creek along Mexico Road. The new trail connection will provide pedestrian access on the south side of Mexico Road to the Great Rivers Greenway Dardenne Greenway trail. It will also provide a connection to the sidewalk system on the south side of Mexico Road to provide safer access to Mid Rivers Elementary School.
This project is partially funded through a Federal Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) grant. Completion is scheduled by the end of the year.
