New Lake Saint Louis assistant city administrator begins work later this month

Lake Saint Louis has a new assistant city administrator.

George Ertle, the former assistant to the city manager in Clayton, will begin work on Sept. 19.  He replaces Eric Sterman, who took over as the first city administrator ever for the city of Sunset Hills in St. Louis County.

Ertle spent nearly two years in Clayton and more than five years as the assistant to the city manager of University Park, Texas.  He earned his master of public administration degree at the University of Kansas and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Dayton.

City Administrator Paul Markworth said Ertle will work closely with him on a variety of policy and city programs.  Ertle is expected to manage the city’s human resource department, information technology department, coordinate economic development initiatives, and represent the city before civic and community groups and explain city policies and programs.

“George understands the complex relationships that occur daily in the city administrator’s office,” Markworth said in a news release.  Markworth said his experience with communities will serve him well in the city.
