Last month, as the Francis Howell School District Board of Education meets to discuss topics important to the future of students, Timothy Murphy of Francis Howell Union High joined them on the dais.
Murphy has been a part of the district since kindergarten. Prior to attending Union, Murphy’s educational journey included Independence Elementary, Francis Howell Middle and Francis Howell High. Now, Murphy attends Union and wants everyone to know how great it is.
“Union is a good school with a great spirit,” Murphy said. “It’s nice to be in a place where you know everybody and are able to call them by name.”
“We are proud to have him represent Francis Howell Union and the Francis Howell School District as Honorary Board of Education member,” said Principal Robert Gaugh, who was in attendance at the board meeting.
Murphy’s story is inspiring. Just prior to his senior year, he found himself struggling with life, in and out of the classroom. However, after starting at Union, he said his “life as a whole continued to change for the better.” The next step on his educational journey is St. Charles Community College.
“Tim is an optimistic young man full of charisma and humor,” said educational support counselor Lisha Ewing. “He will bring a smile to anyone and display the upmost respect to those around him.”
