The St. Charles County Highway Department has opened the Deer Creek Road Extension.
The project connects Deer Creek and Elaine drives to provide a link over Peruque Creek, and adds an additional north-south roadway between Hwy. P and the Interstate 70 North Outer Road. The route is west of Hwy. M [Main Street] and east of Hoff Road in O’Fallon.
“This new roadway provides residents with a convenient way to access Interstate 70 from Hwy. P,” County Engineer Craig Tajkowski said. “But more importantly, the extension gives area public safety and emergency services agencies a quickly accessible alternate route in order to reach residents in the area when help is needed.”
St. Charles County’s ½-cent Transportation Sales Tax, reauthorized by a 77 percent vote in August 2012, funded the project. The county is using changeable message boards to inform residents of the opening.
