Fishing Derby, Kites, and Family Fun at Lakeside Park

If you’re looking for a healthy dose of summer fun and friendly competition, then look no further than 370 Lakeside Park on June 4.

The St. Peters Police Rangers 370 Lakeside Fishing Derby and the Kite Festival, Family Bike Ride and Health & Wellness Event will both be taking place on June 4 along the lake at 370 Lakeside Park, provided by the city of St. Peters’s Police Rangers Division.

Both the young and the young at heart can compete along the park’s 140-acre lake during the fishing derby, sponsored by Dick’s Sporting Goods and  Lewis Boats.

Winners will be crowned for the most fish and the biggest fish caught. Prizes will be awarded in two different age divisions: Children (ages 6-12) and Adults (ages 13 and up.)

Entry costs $5 per person, and registration is open now!

You can register in person at the St. Peters Rec-Plex at 5200 Mexico, by phone at (636) 939-2386, ext. 1400, or online at www.stpetersmo.net/rec-connect. The first 100 children who register in advance through the Rec-Plex and attend the event will receive a free event T-shirt and everyone who registers in advance will be entered for the chance to win a gift card.

The Rangers will also be giving away a variety of attendance prizes so make sure you’re there!

Same-day check-in is also available at the marina between 7:30-8:30 a.m. Those who want to check in the day of the derby are advised to arrive early to avoid the rush.

The St. Peters Police Rangers 370 Lakeside Fishing Derby begins at 8:30 a.m. and goes until noon.

If fishing’s not your thing, or you’re looking for something else to do, head on over to the Kite Festival, Family Bike Ride and Health & Wellness Event.

This free event provides a variety of fun activities to promote exercise and encourage healthy choices.

Watch colorful kites fill the sky as part of the kite festival. Bring your own, or, if you don’t have a kite, not to worry! Arrive early and you could be one of the 200 participants to receive a free kite-building kite of your very own. Volunteers will be around to help kids put their new kites together.

Or, your family can bring your bikes and ride along the scenic 4.5-mile trail around the lake.

Don’t have a bike? Once again, 370 Lakeside Park has got your back. There will be a limited amount of adult-sized bikes available for rent the day of the event.

As part of their mission to promote a safe and fun bike ride, the St. Peters Community Health and Wellness Committee will distribute up to 100 free bike helmets to kids at their booth during the event. These helmets were donated compliments of KOHL’S4kids and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.

This fun and fit event kicks off at 9 a.m. and the fun keeps going until 1 p.m.

The best part? You don’t even have to pack a lunch: Gator Island Grill will be offering a food special at 370 Lakeside Park during both of these events on June 4.

370 Lakeside Park is located at 1000 Lakeside Park Drive just off of Highway 370. Parking will be available near the marina and corporate pavilion.
