Tax rebates available for some

O’Fallon residents age 65 or older or residents with disabilities may be able to recoup some of the city utilities taxes paid on their 2015 household gas, electric and phone bills, including cellphones.

To qualify, residents must have an annual adjusted gross income must be no more than $39,400 for a single head-of-household or $45,000 for a married [two-person] household. Social Security income is not counted.

Eligible residents can receive filing assistance from city staff Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at city hall through Tuesday, May 31. Filing must be done in person and residents must bring:

• a photo ID as proof of residency

• copies of 2015 bills for gas, electricity, home phone and cellphone service [bills must show an O’Fallon address]

• 2015 federal income tax return copy

• proof of Social Security disability, if disabled

Rebate forms are available at city hall or online at www.ofallon.mo.us. Bringing a completed rebate form can help speed the filing process.
