On March 4, the firefighters of Cottleville’s Fire Protection District delivered a very special present to the Schnucks store in Cottleville – a special shopping cart called Caroline’s Cart that is designed for children with special needs.

This cart provides parents and caregivers a viable option to transport a child through a grocery store without having the impossible task of having to maneuver a wheelchair and a traditional grocery cart at the same time.

At the store, awaiting the arrival of the new cart were Jennifer Bolduc and her daughter Jezeca, who was very excited to take her first ride in the cart.

The donation was made possible through collaborative efforts between Cottleville Firefighters Outreach [CFO], Schnucks and Variety, the Children’s Charity of St. Louis.

“We are thankful to the Cottleville Firefighters for including Schnucks in their community outreach,” said Schnucks Director of Community Affairs Joanie Taylor, who coordinated the placement of the cart within the Cottleville store. “Our partner at St. Louis Variety – The Children’s Charity and their COO, Brian Roy, identified at least three families in the area who will be able to take advantage of CFO’s generosity while shopping at Schnucks.”
