O’Fallon mayor recognizes communication staff for ‘great work’

At the average O’Fallon City Council meeting, the city’s communications staff works behind the curtains, pulling levers, throwing switches and making sure the technical aspects of the meetings run smoothly.

On Dec. 10, the men and women of the communication staff were unexpectedly put in front of their own cameras when Mayor Bill Hennessy called them into the council chambers for recognition.

Hennessy read a proclamation, which lauded their efforts, dedication and hard work in capturing memorable moments in O’Fallon’s history and the impact they have made on the city.

After the mayor finished reading the proclamation, City Councilmember Mike Pheney [Ward 5] spoke about his experience working with the communications staff.

“This communication operation is fantastic,” Pheney said. “These guys are out in all kinds of weather. They go out of their way to help the people. They go out of their way to tell the people what is going on in the city. They’re fantastic guys and gals.”
