E-cigarettes banned in city hall

Using an electronic cigarette at a Lake Saint Louis Board of Aldermen meeting or at city hall is now verboten.

The city’s Board of Aldermen approved an ordinance at their Nov. 16 meeting that prohibits anyone from using electronic or “e-cigarettes” at city hall, 200 Civic Center Drive, or the city’s public works facility. City employees also cannot use e-cigarettes in city vehicles. City hall includes city administrative offices, meeting rooms including where board meetings are held, and the police department.

But Mayor Kathy Schweikert said the ban doesn’t include other public indoor spaces such as restaurants and stores. Lake Saint Louis does have smoking bans citywide for tobacco products in indoor spaces, in effect since 2010.
