Police warn of telephone scam

At the city’s Nov. 12 City Council meeting, O’Fallon Police Chief Roy Joachimstaler said the police department has been alerted of a telephone scam, in which a man pretends to be an O’Fallon police lieutenant and asks for money to be sent in order to “clear warrants.”

Joachimstaler said that other police departments have been notified of similar suspicious phone calls.

“That’s a scam,” Joachimstaler said. “We would never call anybody at home to send money.”
