It’s not too early to begin thinking about the year-end holidays, according to St. Charles city staff.
The Annual Coat Drive is in full swing and continues through Thursday, Dec. 10.
The coat drive is held in conjunction with the annual Helping Hands for the Holidays event to be held at the St. Charles Convention Center in December.
New and gently used coats, gloves, hats, scarves or blankets can be dropped off in the lobby of City Hall, located at 200 North Second Street.
“We’re also collecting personal care items for distribution to event attendees,” said Don Rothermich, community relations liaison.
During last year’s event over 1,400 meals were served, 100-plus flu shots were administered, over 500 winter coats were given away and over 400 books were donated with generous support from the St. Charles City-County Library. Additionally, over 500 bags of personal care items were presented to attendees.
“We appreciate everyone’s generosity and assistance for ensuring our friends and neighbors stay toasty warm this winter,” Rothermich said.
