Fort Zumwalt North’s Cade Brister and Dacey Brister were just too much to handle for the Panthers rival Fort Zumwalt South.
Cade made his mark on offense running wild all over the Zumwalt South defense and Dacey on defense came up with a huge forced fumble, recovery and return that pretty much broke the backs of the Bulldogs.
Together, the Brister brothers lifted Zumwalt North to a major victory Friday at Fort Zumwalt South that clinched the GAC Central championship .
Junior quarterback Cade Brister ran for 250 yards and five touchdowns as the Panthers raced to a 63-27 win.
Senior linebacker Dacey Brister came up with the play of the game, as he returned a third quarter fumble 60 yards for a score as the Panthers flipped a one score halftime lead, into a 21-point edge midway through the third stanza.
Cade Brister scored three touchdowns in the first half.
Senior running back Cameron Henderson also helped keep Fort Zumwalt South (4-2) close in the first half out as he rushed for 133 yards and a pair of first half TD’s.
The Bulldogs kept up with the Panthers for the first two quarters, trailing just 21-14 at the half.
Zumwalt North (6-0) broke it open in the third quarter with three touchdowns, highlighted by Dacey Brister’s big-time strip, fumble recovery, and touchdown return.
In the fourth quarter, the Panthers scored three more touchdowns as Cade Brister got his fifth and final touchdwon of the evening on a 24-yard run and Marcus Jones and Dominic McClain scored on 1-yard and 6-yard runs to close out the scoring.
Henderson scored on runs of 67 and 15 yards in the first half.
Zumwalt North returns home to host Holt in the GAC Central finale for both teams Friday at 7 p.m.
Fort Zumwalt South will try to snap its two-game losing streak on the road in a non conference match up at St. Charles West at on Friday at 7 p.m.
