On Friday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m., O’Fallon’s annual POW/MIA Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held on behalf of the 83,000 American troops who remain missing in action or imprisoned on foreign soil, and the families who are waiting for their return.
The ceremony, which is hosted by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 458 and AMVETS Post 106, includes the posting of colors, dressing of the table, lighting of candles, laying of the wreath, rifle salute and taps. Music will be provided by Amanda Ellis and the O’Fallon Community Concert Band. “Taps” will be played by Rick Moore, Boy Scout Troop 984.
Veterans Memorial Walk is just off Interstate 70 Exit 219, at T.R. Hughes Boulevard and Belleau Creek Road; turn south. Parking is available.
