GRAND OPENING

SaversSavers, a thrift superstore chain with more than 330 locations, recently opened its fourth St. Louis area store at 1920 Zumbehl Road in St. Charles, celebrating with a ribbon cutting on August 6. The new store continues a partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri (BBBSEMO), through the agency’s Clothes for Kids’ Sake program. The St. Charles Savers store is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Central County Fire & Rescue (CCFR) Engineer Eric Braatz has been named the St. Charles County Fire Academy Instructor of the Year for the third year in a row. Braatz is the lead SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus) instructor, and assists with live fire training at the Academy. He has volunteered as an instructor for the past 15 years, and has been with CCFR for more than 20 years.

Kirby Morris has joined Midwest BankCentre as vice president of commercial lending, based at the bank’s WingHaven branch. Morris has provided financial services to local business customers since 2003; he holds a bachelors degree in finance from Missouri State University.

With a nearly $6 million makeover almost complete, the O’Fallon Retail Walk, located on Hwy. K at Feise Road in O’Fallon, has nearly doubled its tenancy, with several new retailers set to open their doors in the next several weeks. Among them are Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, a natural food-oriented grocer, as well as discount retailers Ross Dress for Less and Five Below.

Owner and Director Gina Marsh recently opened a new preschool, The Montessori Home, at 1 Sugarwood Drive in St. Peters. The school offers certified Montessori instruction for children ages six weeks to 10 years.

Dynamic Life Chiropractic recently opened at 4122 Keaton Crossing Blvd, Ste 105 in O’Fallon, celebrating with a June ribbon-cutting event. Chiropractic care is provided by Dr. Kristin Gaines Porlier, a 2009 graduate of Logan University.

First Bank’s Warrenton branch recently hosted a community Fraud Prevention Workshop at the Scenic Regional Library. Participating were First Bank’s Trish Turner, trust regional director of wealth management, and Pam Faron, Warrenton Branch senior manager.

 

AWARDS AND HONORS

Toney Thornhill, principal auctioneer for A Higher Calling Benefit Auctions in St. Peters, recently received two prestigious designations from the National Auctioneers Association. The Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) designation has les than 1000 designees worldwide, and the Benefit Auctioneer Specialists (BAS) has less than 500 active designees.

The Western St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce holds a free monthly business seminar on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 9-10 a.m. At the Lake Saint Louis Fire Protection District, 2533 Lake Saint Louis Blvd. A speaker from the AAIM Employment Association will discuss the topic of active listening. The O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce holds its 23rd Annual Golf Tournament on Monday, September 14, at The Falls Golf Club, 1170 Turtle Creek in O’Fallon. Cost of $500 per team of four or $125 per single golfer includes lunch, 18 holes of golf with cart, one mulligan per player, beverages on the course and awards dinner.
