Recycling Research Project volunteers are needed to work alongside O’Fallon’s Environmental Services staff. Using an iPad, volunteers will identify households placing recycling canisters at the curb for collection, indicating participation in the city’s recycling program.
Volunteers are asked to commit to a schedule of one day each week for four weeks. The time frame is May 5-May 29, Tuesday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Spreading the data collection over a month will more accurately determine who is recycling and how often.
The assignment is perfect for volunteers with iPad or data entry experience. Volunteers also should be able to get into and out of an Environmental Services truck without assistance at the beginning and end of the shift, and for breaks.
“This is a much-needed project that will help O’Fallon better understand who recycles and why,” said Kathy Halstead, O’Fallon’s Volunteer Services Manager. “Volunteers will get a T-shirt and, in addition to great experience, they’ll get a sense of accomplishment in starting and completing a focused project that will benefit our city.”
