Turn lane to temporarily close on Fifth Steet

Beginning Wednesday, April 22, the left-hand turn lane from northbound Fifth Street to westbound First Capitol Drive will close on a temporary basis for approximately three weeks.

The closure will ensure that construction crews have the ability to install a new water main in that intersection.

There will be some disruptions during the daytime this week, but the majority of the installation work will take place at night, beginning next Monday, April 27. When overnight work is in process, the signals at the intersection will be set to red flash.

During all work associated with this installation, there will be flaggers and traffic control set up to assist the public in getting through the area safely. There will be at least one lane open at all times for all four directions of the intersection while the work is in progress.

There will also be additional lane closures in the coming weeks at Boone’s Lick Road and near Bass Pro Drive. We will keep everyone apprised regarding the latest details on these additional closures as work gets closer to starting.

Additionally further details will be included in our weekly edition of City eNews, which is distributed on Friday afternoons. If you are not currently receiving our weekly eNewsletter, you can easily sign up by sending an email to enews@stcharlescitymo.gov.
