Donatelli’s offers customers ‘one-stop shop for a great night out’

Donatelli’s Bistro can tempt the pickiest palate with its mouthwatering, made-to-order menu.

The Italian restaurant owned by Don and Barb Baker opened its doors in Lake Saint Louis nine years ago. Known for its fresh, made-from-scratch menu items, Donatelli’s Bistro caters to its customers. Whether they order chicken spiedini, spaghetti or tenderloin, Donatelli’s diners can expect fresh, delicious food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Open daily for lunch and dinner, Donatelli’s offers an expansive menu that includes pasta, seafood, steak, veal, risotto, sandwiches and pizza.

Diners can start off with steamed mussels, calamari or chicken wings topped with Don’s special blend of apricot jam and hot sauce. All are delicious. For the entrèe, Don recommends that first-time customers try the Linguini Tutamare, Chicken Spiedini or Tenderloin Donatelli. For dessert, diners can choose from traditional favorites including tiramisu, cannelloni, chocolate layer cake or cheesecake.

Donatelli’s also offers a special lunch menu that includes an entrée, side dish, salad and soft drink, beginning at $10.99. Happy Hour, with free appetizer samples and drink specials, is every day from 3-7 p.m.

The restaurant also rolled out a gluten-free menu on March 18 with menu items ranging from Blackened Chicken to Pesto Pasta with Shrimp to Eggplant Rollatini. Head Chef Chris Guber utilized his degree in exercise science and nutrition to create the delicious and healthy five-item menu to meet nutritional needs for those with Celiac disease.

Guber said among his favorite menu items is the Peach and Chicken Kebobs. Skewered and grilled, the kebobs are served on a bed of spring mix and topped with a mango sauce.

Donatelli’s also can lighten some of the regular items for its customers looking for a healthier alternative. For instance, Guber said the Linguini Tutamare can be made with broth instead of heavy cream.

Creating the perfect meal for customers has won the bistro several accolades. In 2014, Donatelli’s Bistro was voted Best Fine Dining Restaurant by Mid Rivers Newsmagazine. The prior year, the magazine named Donatelli’s Best Italian Restaurant.

In addition to delicious, award-winning food, Donatelli’s boasts an impressive entertainment schedule. Live music takes the stage in the wine bar on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. The owners host five-course wine dinners on a regular basis, and wine tastings can be set up for $15 a person.

“It’s a one-stop shop for a great night out,” said Barb. “We have tons of regulars, and have made many great friends from the restaurant.”

The restaurant also has a Tuesday golf league that returns to the restaurant for a buffet dinner after each round. Over the summer, the bistro hosts patio parties, featuring St. Louis Cardinals games on its many flat-screen televisions.

In addition to a spacious dining room and bar, the restaurant also has three private rooms available. Donatelli’s can host parties of 25 to 85 at the restaurant or cater the event onsite.

Don and Barb round out the Donatelli’s experience with exceptional personal service. They take pride in visiting with customers and assuring that each person’s dining experience has exceeded expectations.
