Residents attending the O’Fallon City Council meeting on Feb. 26 were treated to a brief burst of drama – from O’Fallon TheatreWorks actors performing scenes from an upcoming play.
Dave Hemstock, playing Bill W., and Patty Robinson, playing Lois, acted out two emotionally charged scenes from the upcoming performance of “Bill W. and Dr. Bob,” which will run March 20-22 and March 27-29 at the O’Fallon Municipal Centre (City Hall), 100 North Main Street. Ticket prices range from $8-$12; children five and under are free. Group discounts are available.
O’Fallon TheatreWorks has been active in the community since 2001, and hosts annual productions in the spring and fall.
Hemstock said the play centers on the origin of Alcoholics Anonymous and its 12-step program, as well as the Al-Anon support group.
“The play is that origin, the drama between Bill and his wife Lois, and Bob and Anne Smith,” Hemstock said. “This is really the founding story of how this (Alcoholics Anonymous) started with these two guys and their spouses.”
