Shooting at Chuck E. Cheese’s suspect in custody

Deven A. Strauther, age 23, who was wanted as a person of interest in connection with a shooting that took place at the Chuck E. Cheese’s restaurant at 2669 Veteran’s Memorial Parkway in St. Charles on Jan. 26, is in police custody.

Strauther was taken into custody on unrelated charges, according to authorities.

The altercation took place on Jan. 26 at about 8:30 p.m. Officers from the St. Charles City Police Department arrived on the scene at 8:34 p.m., responding to a report of shots fired that had just occurred. Injured was one man in his 40s, who was transported to a nearby hospital where he remains in serious, but stable condition.

No children were hurt during the altercation.

Workers and patrons at the restaurant hid behind counters and in locked rooms until the police gave the all-clear.

Earlier this month, a woman was attacked with a knife during an altercation at a Chuck E. Cheese’s restaurant in south St. Louis County.
