Drivers headed to Winter Warmup, the Blues game or one of the city’s many music venues this weekend should avoid the area around the Poplar Street Bridge as the Missouri Department of Transportation and its contractor, Millstone Weber Inc., will be closing much of I-44/I-55 downtown.
Crews will be removing the ramp from the depressed lanes to the eastbound PSB starting at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16. Crews will close all lanes and ramps on I-44 in both directions between the Tucker ramp and 7th and Park streets. All lanes and ramps on northbound I-55 from Gravois to the Poplar Street Bridge also will be closed.
All lanes and ramps, except for the ramp from eastbound I-44 to Walnut, will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19. The ramp to Walnut will reopen by 5 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21.
Eastbound I-64 through downtown and to the Poplar Street Bridge will remain open in both directions.
The ramp from downtown to the eastbound I-64 Poplar Street Bridge is being removed permanently to make room for the new dual-lane ramp from the westbound Poplar Street Bridge to southbound I-55. That new dual-lane ramp is part of the improvements to the Poplar Street Bridge connections to I-55 and I-44.
