Mike Myers was recently named fire chief for the St. Charles Fire Department by Mayor Sally Faith, and Craig Dodson was named deputy fire chief. They replace fire chief Rick Daly and deputy chief Rich Oney, who are retiring from their positions. Myers previously served as fire chief for Las Vegas Fire & Rescue; and Dodson has worked for the City of St. Charles since 1984, most recently as

battalion chief.

Cedar Lake Cellars, a winery and event venue, recently hired Richard Sterck as its director of operations. In this position, he will focus on staff supervision and operations management, handling the winery’s budget and financial services, and building corporate partnerships with the community. Sterck has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry.

Katie Conoyer has been promoted to director of sales for St. Charles Convention Center by Global Spectrum, which manages the facility. In addition, Joe Capitanelli has been promoted to sales manager and Kristin Bowen has been added as marketing manager.

 

PLACES

Mercy Clinic Women’s Health O’Fallon has been awarded Safety Certification in Outpatient Practice Excellence (SCOPE) for its Women’s Health Program. It is among the first OB-GYN offices in the country and the first in Missouri to be certified. SCOPE is a comprehensive patient safety review program available to medical practices in which obstetrics and/or gynecology services are provided. It assesses the implementation and use of patient safety concepts and techniques in the office setting.

Eight retirement communities in St. Charles County competed in November and December to Fill the Ambulance with Food – an event that has become a staple of the holiday season for the participating communities, Operation Food Search and the St. Charles County Ambulance District. Retirement communities participating in the food drive were Breeze Park, Carrington Place of St. Charles, Fairwinds Rivers Edge, Garden Villas of O’Fallon, Lake St. Charles, Oak Tree Village, Park Place Senior Living and Twin Oaks at Heritage Pointe.

 

AWARDS & HONORS

The O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce recently announced the winners of its community awards for 2014. They include: KFAV, a Kaspar Broadcasting station, as Small Business of the Year; Component Bar Products as Business of the Year, for building its new Midwest Machine Tool Training Center, which offers training for industrial jobs; the city of O’Fallon’s Department of Economic Development as the Community Servant of the Year; Holly Murray of Metro West Accounting & Associates as Ambassador of the Year; and Barb Koch as the Sue Proost O’Fallon Chamber Person of the Year. The honorees received their awards at an awards luncheon held Tuesday, Dec. 16 at the Trigg Banquet Center.

Cedar Lake Cellars in Wright City was selected by Perfect Wedding Guide, a national bridal vendor resource, as St. Louis’ top reception location. The award was presented at the third annual Vendors’ Choice Awards. “The reception location category included our winery along with seven other prestigious destinations, all of which were deserving of this award,” said director of operations Richard Sterck. “We are so proud that we were selected by our industry’s vendors for this honor.”

The Western St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce’s Celebration Ball is from 6-11 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24 at Andrews Academy, 1701 Feise Road in Lake Saint Louis. This year’s theme is “Ice Gala.” The Celebration Ball is open to the public and will include the chamber’s annual awards ceremony, dinner and entertainment. The Western St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Collette Vacations to provide a trip to Ireland in October of 2015. The guided tour will include airfare, hotels, some meals and more. In upcoming months, the chamber will host informational meetings and have brochures available.
