Winners of the Paint Your County Parks art contest will be announced during a reception at the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles, on Thursday, Nov. 6.
The public is invited to join the St. Charles County Parks Department from 6-8 p.m. for this free event. Food and drink will be provided.
At 7 p.m., the juror for the art competition, Janet Fons, will recognize the winning artist and showcase the winning painting at the Foundry Art Centre, located at 520 North Main Street in St. Charles. The first place winner will receive a $1,000 purchase prize for their work.
Two honorable mentions also will be awarded at a reception.
The St. Charles County Parks Department and the Foundry Art Centre held the second annual Paint Your County Parks competition from Aug. 1 through Oct. 31. Thirty-four contestants registered this year and their works will be present at the reception.
“We have artists from Illinois and Missouri competing in the Paint Your County Parks competition this year,” said St. Charles County Parks Director, Bettie Yahn-Kramer. “One artist is from O’Fallon, Illinois, and one even lives as far as Columbia, Missouri.”
The winning painting will hang at the County Parks Administration Office, located at 201 N. Second Street in St. Charles for guests to stop in and see.
