The Manchester Community Band performs its final concert of the summer concert season on Sunday, Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the amphitheater at Paul A. Schroeder Park, 359 Old Meramec Station Road. [In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be rescheduled for Tuesday, August 19 at 6:30 p.m.]
Concerts are free and open to the public.
Favorite tunes from the ever popular musical, “Music Man,” will be performed along with songs from “Wicked,” “The Lord of the Rings,” and highlights from “Frozen.”
The concert will feature Manchester’s own Shaun Streeter as emcee. Streeter is an on-air personality for 550 KTRS and 106.5 The Arch.
Food trucks including Sia’s Italian Ice, Tropical Moose Walk-Away Waffles, and Taste-D-Burger will be on hand to serve delightful treats during the concert.
The band is under the leadership of Music Director and Conductor Chris Becker, who is director of bands at Parkway South High and Washington University. He has directed bands in the Parkway School District for 33 years.
Also leading the band is Assistant Conductor and Manager Jeremy Knudtson, who is the assistant band director at Eureka High, LaSalle Springs Middle, and Wildwood Middle. Knudtson is also a tubist and an active member of the local music community, performing and teaching privately throughout the St. Louis area.
