At approximately 6:20 a.m. on Aug. 5, the St. Peters Police Department responded to the area of Venice Circle and Florence Drive in the Montecito Subdivision, off Hwy. 94, for a report of a body floating in the subdivision lake.
Upon arrival, officers found Clarence Cole, 29, of the Montecito subdivision, face down in the lake. Cole was deceased and no life-saving efforts could be performed. Following a preliminary investigation, the Major Case Squad was activated to assist with the investigation due to the unknown circumstances surrounding the manner of death.
The deceased subject was transported to the St. Charles County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy was performed. The preliminary report indicates this is a possible drowning and there were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play. The final autopsy results are pending and it could take several weeks.
The Major Case Squad was deactivated in this case following their investigation and any further investigation will be conducted by St. Peters Police Department.
