There will be a new athletic director put in charge of running the atheltic department at Villa Duchesne.
On the first day of fall practice, Villa Duchesne fired its athletic director.
It was announced Dory Smith was relieved of her duties Monday afternoon.
No reason was given for her dismissal. It is Villa Duchesne’s stated policy to not comment on personnel matters.
There is no interim athletic director in place as the school commences its search for a replacement.
Also, Smith’s abrupt dismissal has caused a bit of turmoil for Metro League programs.
Smith, was the president of the Metro League which held its annual AD meeting on Tuesday at MICDS.
The Metro League as a result, has been left scrambling to fill the void left by Smith’s departure.
Smith was held in high regard by her peers. She was recently selected as a recipient of the National High School Federation Citation Award. The award is the highest honor the NHFS can bestow on an AD.
