As part of a year-long philanthropy project, the Chesterfield Day School sixth-grade class recently presented a check for more than $2,000 to Support Dogs, Inc., a national nonprofit organization which offers highly skilled assistance dogs to individuals with disabilities.
Students raised the funds throughout the 2013-2014 school year by sponsoring bake sales, manning concession stands and other fundraising activities. However, the majority of the funds were raised through the school’s sixth-grade musical, “School House Rock Live! Jr.”
Janice Brennan, a trainer from Support Dogs, Inc., thanked the sixth-graders, their parents and teachers for their generosity, noting that the students are “poised to grow in future community leadership.”
