Cheak leaving CBC to take over SLUH volleyball club

When the CBC Cadets volleyball club takes the court in the spring of 2015, it will have a new leader on the bench.

Longtime coach Jeff Cheak is leaving to take over as head coach at St. Louis University High School.

Cheak formally accepted the SLUH job early last week.

In eight seasons at the helm at CBC, Cheak fielded one of  the area’s most competitive programs in and out of the Metro Catholic Conference. Cheak’s CBC squads went 145-65 during his tenure there and the Cadets finished 20-11 while making the state title match.

Also, under Cheak’s direction, CBC advanced to the state championship match in each of the last two seasons.

Prior to coming to CBC, Cheak, 39, worked for nine years as an assistant Vianney.
Cheak is a 1983 alumnus of Vianney.

Cheak will be replacing Jim Gioia, who resigned unexpectedly at the end of this season.
