The field for the ninth Metropolitan Open Championship at the Country Club of St. Albans is set.
A total of 65 golf professionals from St. Louis and around the country will compete for a $15,000 first place check.
Rounds 1 and 2 will be played July 10-11. Then there will be a cut to the low 40 scores and ties for the final round on July 12.
While defending champion Drew Stoltz was unable to make it back to St. Albans in 2014, several past champions are in the field.
Chesterfield’s Skip Berkmeyer, the inaugural champion in 2006, will tee it up with University of Illinois head golf coach Mike Small and Bellerive Country Club teaching professional Brian Fogt in rounds 1 and 2. This will be Small’s debut in the Open after several attempts to try and fit into his schedule.
Past champions Shawn Jasper (2010 and 2011) and Mitchell Gregson (2012) will be grouped with 2014 Old Warson Cup Champion Phil Caravia in the first two rounds.
Moreover, several players with Web.com experience are in the field this year.
The week will kick off with a Pro-Am event July 9.
The first round will begin at 7:30 a.m. July 10 with starting times going throughout the day.
The public is welcome to attend, free of charge.
