The project will improve safety and reduce congestion, according to the city of St. Peters. A traffic lane will be added to both southbound and northbound Mid Rivers Mall Drive across I-70 by removing portions of islands and making some traffic signal improvements at the interchange. Additional northbound and southbound lanes also will be added on Mid Rivers Mall Drive from the I-70 North Outer Road to Ecology Drive. A traffic signal will be removed and replaced at the North Outer Road intersection. Plus, the project will modify the existing railroad crossing north of the outer road and provide for a multi-use pedestrian/bike trail on the west side of Mid Rivers Mall Drive.
This $1,661,000 road construction project is 60 percent funded through a St. Charles County Road Board grant.
Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of September.
